The BirthTrack System monitors labor progress using safe and proven ultrasound technology.
Clinical Overview
To assess labor progress, obstetric caregivers currently perform clinical examinations at various intervals to determine cervical dilatation, effacement of the cervix, consistency, and fetal head position. The clinical assessment is based on a sporadic manual examination: the insertion of two fingers into the cervix, spreading them to estimate dilatation, and reaching up to estimate the location of the fetus. This method has been used for many years despite its associated risk of infection, inaccuracy, and the highly variable and non-continuous nature of the resulting data.
